It's never good when you start with critical glitches. And Betty Boop, apparently.

But when Discovery is the one rescuing you, at least you have that going for you. Man, they definitely have a good handle on the unnerving and disorienting, making me wonder if my headphones were broken for a moment there, and then ending upside down.

OP really shouldn't be focusing on how attractive our friend here is when he's suffering but

Also I'm not sure how good it is that banging on the doors of that cabinet gets you into the meds, but okay. ANd what on earth is that thing he found? It looks like someone crossed a level and a reflex hammer.

Geez, so everything's glitching, damn. Not so sure I'm really comfortable with this "from the computer" perspective it seems like we're getting here? Feels like I remember some Doctor Who like this.

It left the scars? Huh. And here we are back with the computer perspective again, and I have to be interested because Trek never does this. It's a unique thing. Occasionally people will remark that it's AI, but because it's simple… though this doesn't seem to be. HMM.

Interesting. Not only does she have a name she seems to have chosen herself, she thinks he's lying about his name. HMM. (At least he gets a better fitting jumpsuit out of this.)

Always nice when the person? Computer? AI? Laughs when you ask where they are. NOT SURE IF AWKWARD OR TERRFYING

Cyclops owl? That's neat. So since she mentions the armor and weapons, and it turns out he's a soldier... does the owl symbolize the military he's in? Or am I looking too hard into this?

Of course, we get sidetracked when she mentions a piece of media he watched 800 times. Hmm you couldn't turn it off? Or embarrassed you got caught?

Okay, never mind. You don't even know what Betty Boop is. God these guys are so... I always forget these things aren't common place for them.

A THOUSAND YEARS

*quiet sobbing* THERE IS DUST ON THE BRIDGE

I feel bad for everyone here. She can't go because she was ordered to stay there and regardless of it being a thousand years, and order is an order. And he wants to go home because well.…

He has family. Of course he does.

 

The illustration of the passage of time is really nice. His reaction to the waffle is just priceless thank you. Oh my god. Taco tuesday. THIS EPISODE. "What's a Tuesday?"

... And she's in love with Funny Face... Okay forget this, I want a Starfleet issue popcorn box. LOL I like though that he's like "ok I'm in the middle of space-nowhere with a thousand year old lonely computer watching an old Earth musical."

ME TOO CRAFT. This is. Cute I guess? But also kiiiiiind of weird.

I like his little story. It kind of reminds me of Sisko and his solar-sailer. (And also a pulserigger sounds cool) Also, her little additions to make it nicer for him. She knows he's lonely.

OKay I take everything back, watching him learn to dance from Funny Face is just. I love this. Oh geez... he even replicated the suit. I CANNOT.

AKLJHFDSf Now he's going to make her make herself up so that she can dance with him. I'm not crying you're crying. It's SO CUTE. Because she did those nice things for him, he made it so she can dance to her favorite movie/song.

Aaaand I just knew it couldn't last. Gurl you can't mack on man that devoted to his wife and son just because it's been ten years. DON'T YOU DARE. Don't you tell him it's okay to do it just because you're a computer. NO. (Yes, I get it, no it's still not okay.)

Oh... oh no. She's letting him go finally. 

 

Okay never mind, I'm going to be spending the end of this episode in the company of onion cutting ninjas. This true name stuff is really sweet and sad and romantic and and and.

No. NO STOP MY EMOTIONS

Okay, this was a really good short. I'm always a fan of stories where someone is lost in the middle of nowhere and this ratcheted this up. And it's really just a sad but sweet tale (with a little horror thrown in, a la Discovery), and I like it. 9/10
