Discovery: Short Treks #1

[note: I planned to do all the short treks at once, but things have gotten fairly hectic, and I've just completed my second-to-last chemo, and I think this just going to be easier, to do one a week. Schedule will roughly continue as planned, with a break on 7/27 as that's my birthday. and the day after my final chemo.]

So first off we get a new, or at least shortened version of the intro! And then straight to everyone's favorite ship.

Heyyyy someone actually in the workerbee! You usually see them from so far away, and I had always thought they were automated. (Yes, I know Tyler drives one early in season one)

Oooh, what's this? Is it a stowaway?? Whatever it is, it has cool hands. And cool blood too! Shiny orange blood. That's so neat.

HI TILLY. Oh geez. Your mother is so. Not nice to you. You need a new one. Might I suggest Michael's mom? Although no, she might not want Sarek to adopt yet another child. And this one's not even an orphan, even if sometimes she might want to be.

Boy oh boy. This is someone who seems like her heart's in the right place, but she ends up deciding her kid(s) are going to be the same way they were when they were five when they're 18. Or, you know. 24, like Tilly's supposed to be. And then telling them they'll never succeed because of one time. (Something I am absolutely not familiar with at all /s)

Poor Tilly. She's going to be in the command training thing and she's going to be captain, and you'll be like "wow I didn't think you could" and then she'll be like

"Ill-advised, that amount of caffeine is--" "My best friend, so shoosh." RELATABLE. Oh I love when she squints at the replicator. I love her so much. "Espresso I release you." *cackle*

LSDhkasdjfhsg glitching computer and food flying everywhere and lights flashing. 

Wait. She looks almost human??? WHAT ARE YOU. OMFG SPIKES. Meanwhile Tilly's just like "oh gosh you're cool I'm gonna scan you with my tricorder." Oh nooo that cute little chirping noise!

Oh nooooooo she's post-larval. No wonder she's going nuts. I mean, that's my guess anyway. She snuck in and cut her hand right away... she must be scared. And somewhere she only just understands? I guess?

Yes Tilly, sugar IS awesome. And it makes our little alien friend smile.

LOLOLOL there goes Tilly being relatable again. And the alien too, tbh. Surrounded by new foods, gotta try them all. Gotta admit though, that's a tasty looking burrito.

LMAO omg. Tilly is not taking your shit, alien girl. I love how she just hisses back and approaches slightly aggressively, and it WORKS. She is SO BRAVE seriously.

OMFG this girl is sassy as hell. "It's a family name" I love her. And she built a translator when she was nine. Dang.

  

   

And Tilly is not having your shit again. I love this so much. Ah, she finally has a name! Yay. And of course I'm distracted by half of what Tilly's saying because Po's eyes blink wayyy differently than ours. @_@

So of course I'm completely reminded of this guy from Men in Black:

Whoooooooaaaaaaaaaa @_@ They're born with their planet? THAT"S SO WEIRD AND COOL. Oooh they're a dilithium source. That is also cool.

Awww Tilly. Your mom's just dumb. *HUG* Dude wait-- Po built something to recrystallize dilithium? Dang girl. (Man she should just teach STEM classes.) Ufhoasdf and she just wanted it for her planet, because it's her twin. T_T

And it's true that it's scary when the people who are supposed to care don't listen. I love you Tilly, just. Bonding with her, building some trust, telling her she's not crazy... healing her arm. (does she have that dermal regenerator normally or did she jack it from Sickbay?)

Ahahaha @_@ that's not relevant or anything. But god I love Tilly being basically a good mom and helping Po see that she's the only one that can help her planet.

Annnnd she's sniffing the transporter console. ♥

Tilly is everyone on finding out that Po's brother is the King. I mean was. *COUGHCOUGH* "Tomorrow's my coronation." Yeah. Yup. Uh huh. *faint*

And then she gives her a dilithium crystal from Xahea. IT"S SO PRETTY. I just love them giving each other one last confidence boost. So good.



THIS WAS GOOD! I really just like the in depth Tilly stuff, I love her so much in the main show, so it was nice to see her. It's also nice to see a fairly unique alien, and two women talking about stuff in general. I like that Discovery really gets into weird and cool aliens.

It's too short to call it an episode, but I like it a lot, regardless. 9/10
